They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
Except when you marry the girl you’ve always wanted.

Brooke Linson has always been untouchable.
My teammate’s little sister. The girl everyone protected. The one dating the campus douchebag while pretending she was fine. But I saw her differently. I always have. The quiet strength. The darkness behind her eyes. The way she carried the weight of everyone else’s expectations like it was her job to keep the world steady.

Then one reckless night changes everything. Now she’s my wife at the worst possible time. My football career is taking off, her future is just beginning, and calling this a mistake would be easy. But I don’t want easy. I want her. I have one shot to prove I’m more than just a football player—and that this Vegas marriage deserves a real ending.

And this time, I’m going to lock her down.

Ava Sutton really saved something special for Silas and Brooke.

Silas Arbuckle is down bad in the most refreshing, green-flag way possible, and he never once tries to hide it. From his teammates to her friends to her protective big brother (his former teammate), Silas is unapologetically all in on Brooke. He sees her worth even when she doesn’t, and he makes it his mission to remind her, constantly, how smart, capable, and beautiful she truly is. Not in a flashy, overbearing way, but in a steady, intentional way that feels deeply earned. Once Silas chooses her, there is no wavering. No games. Just absolute devotion.

“Over the past year of knowing Brooke, I’ve watched her in the small, unguarded moments. The way she listens. The way she grounds a room without trying. She carries a quiet strength that doesn’t ask to be noticed, and I don’t think she realizes how rare that is…And somewhere along the way, without meaning to, I started falling for her in the spaces between conversations, in the moments I wasn’t supposed to be looking.”

Brooke Linson’s story hit me right in the chest. She’s a people pleaser who avoids confrontation, lives with anxiety, and carries the weight of past trauma in a way that feels painfully real. Ava Sutton doesn’t just mention Brooke’s panic attacks—she writes them with care, accuracy, and compassion. The grounding techniques Brooke uses are ones I’ve relied on myself, and seeing them represented on the page made her feel incredibly real and deeply relatable. Watching her work through the spiraling fear, the loss of control, and the quiet fight to steady herself was emotional, because that fight is exhausting. I’ve lived it. For weeks on end. It was validating to see strength portrayed this way, not as something loud or fearless, but as choosing to breathe through the panic, keep going, and slowly take your life back one small step at a time.

What made Brooke’s journey even more powerful was seeing how hard she fights for herself in therapy. The insight into her sessions shows just how committed she is to reclaiming her voice, her bravery, and her sense of autonomy. And when she finally lets Silas in, he never tries to fix her or save her—he simply walks beside her. He becomes her steady presence, offering a shoulder when she needs it and a guiding hand when she falters. She doesn’t lean on him for strength; she already has that. Silas is there to support it.

“He’s become my safe space. The person my body relaxes around before my brain can catch up. Someone I know I can talk to without being rushed or fixed or dismissed. He’s proven that over and over again—not with promises, but with the way he shows up. With patience. With consistency. With listening.”

I loved the way Silas opens up to Brooke about his learning disability, and instead of judgment, she meets him with genuine curiosity—asking what tools help him succeed. It’s such a quiet but meaningful moment that highlights how emotionally safe their relationship is. Silas is far smarter than he’s ever been given credit for, and I adored the contrast between his intimidating football-player exterior and the soft, steady, teddy-bear heart underneath. They shouldn’t work on paper, but they fit in the most natural, effortless way. His feelings for Brooke never waver. Once he has her, Vegas wedding and all, he’s not letting go without showing her exactly how deeply committed he is.

“I’m in love with her. Completely. In a way that doesn’t ask permission or wait for good timing. In a way that’s settled itself into my bones without me noticing.”

The Vegas marriage trope could have easily felt rushed or chaotic, but Ava Sutton grounds it in genuine emotion and long-standing feelings. Silas has loved Brooke quietly for years, respecting boundaries even when it hurt. So when opportunity finally presents itself, he doesn’t hesitate, and watching Brooke slowly fall, fully and freely, was incredibly satisfying. Their relationship is playful, tender, spicy, and deeply rooted in trust.

“Besides, he steals my ability to walk, so I steal his hoodies. I feel like that’s a fair trade.”

I also loved the found-family vibes throughout the book. The returning characters and cameos, especially Beck and his big-brother protectiveness, added so much warmth and continuity to the story. This series truly shines when it leans into community, loyalty, and chosen family, and Lockdown Corner delivers that in full.

Beyond the romance, this book stands out for its honest portrayal of mental health and healing. Brooke’s journey felt raw and validating, and Silas being her grounding force without overshadowing her growth made their love story even stronger. It’s rare to find a romance that balances swoon, spice, and emotional depth this well, but Ava Sutton absolutely nailed it here.

“Loving you has taught me that real strength is protecting what matters. Showing up even when I’m exhausted. Choosing each other even after we’ve seen how hard things can get. I choose you,” he says, voice low and certain. “Every down. Every drive. Every season.”

I’m genuinely sad to see this series end, but if this is the note it’s going out on, it’s a damn good one. Falling in love with Silas was effortless, and watching Brooke learn to choose herself, and choose him, was everything I wanted and more. Ava Sutton continues to prove she writes romance with heart, intention, and care, and I cannot wait to see what she does next.
