Getting drafted to a losing team was bad enough. Falling for her could end me …

I’m supposed to be the NHL’s next poster boy. Not the guy the draft screws over. Or the headline waiting to happen. And definitely not the new face of the Seattle Rogues—the league’s latest expansion team, who loses on repeat.

But here I am.

Just like my Hall of Famer dad, I’ve got the talent, looks, and dedication to be the next big thing in pro hockey … but keeping my mouth shut is proving to be a problem.

Even worse, my new team has assigned a high-flying publicist to keep watch over me since I’m a loose cannon on social media and unable to hold my tongue. Fine, babysit me. Whatever.

Then I discover the woman assigned to represent me is Drew Callaghan—aka my coach’s daughter.

I guess if they’re making me have a publicist, it makes sense for it to be her—we’ve been family friends for years, and even if my cocky attitude drives her crazy, I know our friendship will translate well to the workplace.

But my overconfidence has never been the issue. It’s the way Drew disarms me whenever I see her in a suit while she lays out a bunch of rules for me to curate the perfect public profile.

There can be zero distractions.
No scandals.
And absolutely no temptations.

While she may be meticulous in her job, Drew misses one important rule: don’t fall for your coach’s daughter.

The world knows I’m a playboy, and I’m about to break every rule in the book … along with the fraternization clause in our contracts.

I’m going to make Drew Callaghan mine.

This book plays like a game on the edge of a penalty—fast, reckless, and impossible to look away from.

I’ll be honest, Will Jones did not have me at the start. He’s cocky, entitled, and riding high on that hockey royalty status (Hall of Fame dad, coach basically family… the man has never known struggle a day in his life). For the first chunk of the book, I was side-eyeing him hard and wondering how I was ever going to fall for this guy.

And then… Ruth did what Ruth always does.

Somewhere along the way, Will goes from “overconfident menace” to completely irresistible. Still cocky? Absolutely. Still a rule-breaking menace? Without a doubt. But underneath that? A man who falls hard, doesn’t hesitate, and suddenly decides this one woman is worth breaking every rule in the book for.

And that woman? Drew Callaghan.

“I fucking love it when you’re mean to me. Call me William.”

Drew is his perfect opposite. She’s calculated, professional, and fully aware that getting involved with her client (who also happens to be her dad’s player) is a terrible, career-ending idea. She tries to hold the line. She really does. She even creates a list of rules to abide by. But the more time she spends with Will, the more she sees past the chaos to the guy who genuinely shows up for her. And let’s be real, he manages to bring out a little bit of recklessness in her.

She keeps insisting they shouldn’t be doing this, trying desperately to keep things professional, but he’s already all in. Will doesn’t hesitate or second-guess—he chooses her, loudly and unapologetically. For a man who’s never chased a woman in his life, that shift is everything. He goes from untouchable playboy to completely locked in, determined, and relentless, ready to move mountains if that’s what it takes, and refusing to let her walk away, no matter how hard she tries to push him.

“I’m all Jones, baby, and it’s only a matter of time before you are too.”

Their dynamic kept drawing me in, with banter that hits right every time, tension that doesn’t ever ease up, and an undeniable “we absolutely should not be doing this” energy that lingers in every glance, every touch, building toward something that’s inevitable, and probably a little disastrous.

“You like to ask for permission rather than forgiveness, whereas I’ll go ahead and take what I want anyway. To hell with the consequences.”

And when the switch flips for Will? Game over.

This man goes full “I’m going to prove we belong together no matter what it costs,” and I ate up every second of it. The way he calls her “baby” like it’s second nature? The way he chases her instead of the other way around? Yeah, that’ll do it.

“You taste like a four-carat diamond ring I just slid onto your left hand.”

What I also loved is that Drew never loses herself. She stands her ground, challenges him, and never once feels intimidated by his status or ego. She meets him head-on, and that balance is what makes their relationship work so well.

And for my second-gen heart?? This book HIT.

The nostalgia, the parallels to his parents, the little Easter eggs woven in, it all felt so intentional without taking away from Will and Drew’s story. It stands on its own while still giving longtime readers that emotional payoff.

This is a fast, flirty, high-stakes sports romance that balances heat, humor, and heart effortlessly. The chemistry, the tension, and the emotional payoff all hit perfectly, and by the end, I was completely in.

Once you step onto this rink, you’re not leaving without falling for a Jones man.
