Baker
Being a single dad was never part of the playbook, but one look at my son and everything changed. Now football and fatherhood are my whole world—a world that gets turned upside down when my nanny quits two weeks before training camp.

Sloane Peterson runs interference by stepping in to help. She’s sweet, dependable, and the one woman I shouldn’t want. Not when our lives are so entwined. But every time she smiles at my son—or me—it gets harder to remember that our little arrangement is only temporary.

Sloane
Taking a short-term nanny gig for Nashville Rampage’s most eligible DILF has disaster written all over it. But when Daddy Sin is in a bind, I do just that. It keeps me from waiting tables, and his son is the cutest little boy on the planet.

Baker Sinclair is famous, has a body like a Greek god, and when he’s in daddy mode… he’s irresistible. He’s also currently my new boss, and completely forbidden. The longer I’m in his home, the less this feels like a job. Because between reading bedtime stories and baking cookies, I can’t imagine my life without them… either of them. Too bad love doesn’t follow lesson plans… or playbooks.

Oh my heart—Kaylee Ryan truly outdid herself with Follow the Play. Every time I think this series can’t possibly get sweeter, or more emotionally satisfying, she proves me wrong. Baker Sinclair (aka Daddy Sin) just might be my favorite Rampage player yet, and yes, I feel a little disloyal admitting that.

Baker is a devoted single dad whose entire world revolves around his two-year-old son, Camden—the coolest tiny wingman ever. When Camden’s mother suddenly passes away and his nanny abruptly quits right before training camp, he’s desperate. Enter Sloane: recently unemployed teacher, longtime friend of the group, and the woman who steps in without hesitation. From the moment she walks into their lives, everything shifts. Hearing her voice and Camden’s giggles when he comes home melts Baker in ways he never expected, and watching Sloane fall in love with that little boy is pure magic. She never asks what’s in it for her—she simply shows up with her whole heart, and that makes her impossible not to love.

The slow burn between Baker and Sloane is tender, natural, and deeply emotional. For a long time, Baker fights what’s growing between them, trying to stay on the right side of boss, friend, and single dad, until there’s a moment where he finally stops lying to himself. When he chooses to do something about his feelings for Sloane instead of pushing them down, it’s incredibly satisfying in that quiet, heart-thumping way that Kaylee Ryan writes so well. Their touches are soft, their kisses gentle at first, and when friendship finally blurs into something more, it feels inevitable in the best way.

“Now, I need to pull up my big boy pants and do something about it. I’m tired of sitting on the sidelines. I know the play. Sure, I’m rusty, but I know it. All I have to do is see it through. Follow the play, and get the girl.”

There are no games here—just two good people falling in love in the quiet spaces between bedtime stories, cookie baking, and building a home together. And when Camden calls her “mommy”? I absolutely lost it. Happy tears everywhere.

“Because I think about you all the time. When Camden does something and you’re not here, I want to call you to tell you about it. I think about you as soon as I wake up. And you and my boy, are what’s on my mind when I lay my head on my pillow to go to sleep at night. I’ve never had a woman consume me like this. That’s how.”

What I loved most is the lack of unnecessary drama—no chaotic third-act breakup, no contrived misunderstandings. Just honest feelings, vulnerability, and a love that grows steadily and securely. Baker’s protective, soft-hearted nature and Sloane’s warmth, strength, and unwavering support make them a perfect match. Add in the found-family dynamic of the Rampage team and their partners, and you get a story that feels full, rich, and incredibly comforting.

“You made this house a home. Your presence, your love, and your laughter. You breathed life into us, into me.”

Kaylee Ryan blends swoon, emotion, slow-burn heat, sweetness, humor, and heart-melting intimacy so effortlessly here. Follow the Play is the sweetest story of the series so far—an unforgettable single-dad romance that leaves you wrapped in warmth long after the final page.
